Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Joylord Gumbie has been named in Zimbabwe's 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Also in the squad is Luke Jongwe, but Brandon Mavuta misses out.
Gumbie, 27, comes into the squad in a rich vein of form, having scored a century as an opener for Zimbabwe Select against Pakistan Shaheens just over a week ago. He has spent time around the senior men's squad, having been named for the West Indies series earlier this year but couldn't quite make the cut into the Playing XI.
Other than that, familiar names make up the squad led by Craig Ervine.
Squad: Ryan Burl, Tendai Chatara, Craig Ervine, Bradley Evans, Joylord Gumbie, Luke Jongwe, Innocent Kaia, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams
Zimbabwe are placed with West Indies, Netherlands, Nepal and USA in Group A for the 10-team tournament, that will be played across Bulawayo and Harare from June 18.
