Kuldeep Yadav disappointed to be left out of squad for England, hopeful of chance in Sri Lanka tour

06 Jun 2021

Spinner Kuldeep Yadav is hoping that he will be part of the squad that tour Sri Lanka in July after being ignored for the tour of England, where India will play the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) against New Zealand before facing England in a five-Test series.

"I didn't go there (England), so hopefully I will go to Sri Lanka and get the chance to perform there. Cricket should continue happening. Every player is sad when he is not in the team, everyone wants to remain in the team, but sometimes the situation is such that you are not part of the team," Kuldeep told India News.

While he emerged as an integral part of the Indian team in the run up to the 2019 World Cup, Kuldeep's appearances in international cricket and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have nosedived since.

"I am disappointed not to be part of the Indian team because I wanted to go and perform and contribute to the team's win. These things happen, yes you are sad, but at the same time, you are ready to perform in the next opportunity," Kuldeep told India News.

While India's Test squad will remain in England after the WTC final, which is scheduled to be held from June 18 to 22, a separate limited overs squad will be picked to tour Sri Lanka. The tour will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is from July 13 to 27.
